The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has announced a new funding opportunity as part of the state’s Volkswagen Settlement funds. A total of $5.26 million is available to replace older diesel vehicles and equipment with new equipment powered by electric, diesel, natural gas, or propane. Types of vehicles eligible and funding levels are below.

An online information session will be held June 10th at 10:00 am.

Application deadline is August 9, 2021.

Eligible Equipment

Engine Type Electric Low NOx or Hybrid Diesel, Propane, Natural Gas
Funding Level 50% or $100,000 (whichever is less) of vehicle or equipment replacement costs for each old diesel replaced, including costs for the accompanying electric vehicle charging station. 25% or $60,000 (whichever is less) for new certified ultra-low NOx or hybrid vehicles for each old diesel vehicle replaced 25% or $50,000 (whichever is less) of new vehicle replacement cost for each old diesel vehicle replaced with new diesel, natural gas, or propane

  • Class 4-8 shuttle bus or transit bus
  • Class 8 (33,001 pounds and greater GVWR) heavy duty trucks
  • Class 4-7 (14,001-33,000 pound GVWR) medium duty trucks
  • Airport ground support equipment
  • Forklifts
  • Port cargo handling equipment
  • Class 4-8 shuttle bus or transit bus
  • Class 8 (33,001 pounds and greater gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR)) heavy duty trucks
  • Class 4-7 (14,001-33,000 pound GVWR) medium duty trucks
