Clean energy means cleaner air. The American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest (ALA-UM) supports the use of clean energy, such as solar power, wind energy, geothermal energy, and biomass technologies because these sources of energy can greatly reduce the amount of unhealthy air pollution released into the atmosphere each year.

The ALA-UM encourages Americans to proactively identify and reduce exposure to harmful air pollutants. These include emissions of particulate matter, ground-level ozone, air toxics as well as pollutants from fossil fuels that are associated with global climate change.
