MC3 hosted a webinar focused on providing information, tools and resources to local organizations on EV charging development and the NEVI program on August 12.
The webinar brought together speakers from a plethora of different fields to share their expertise in all facets of EV charger development, including communications with utilities and funding opportunities like grants and loans.
Beth Croteau-Kallestad, Sustainability & Public Health Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), focused on the NEVI program, covering previous round of funding, eligible projects and how the program works, including timelines and preliminary steps.
Arpita Bhattacharyya, Chief Investment Officer for the Minnesota Climate Innovation Finance Authority (MnCIFA), focused on other forms of funding, including MnCIFA loans criteria, process and example projects.
Michael Hinde, Member Electrification Specialist for Great River Energy, covered the ins-and-outs of working with utilities, and tips for a successful relationship with utilities like early engagement, providing necessary project information and how to use planning tools such as the GridFAST by EPRI. He also walked participants through filling out the Utility Coordination Form.
Environmental Sustainability Director Sydney Henderson and Waste Wise Program Manager Andrew Hilger from the Minnesota Chamber Environmental Sustainability Foundation covered the support they can provide to interested businesses, including low-cost services and assistance with rebates and funding, all meant to help reduce waste and save energy and money.
MC3 coalition director Lisa Thurstin gave an overview of the Minnesota Clean Cities Coalition, along with recent alternative fuel projects around Minnesota and additional resources MC3 can provide communities and organizations.
