Introduction

The Great River Corridor Collaboration (GRCC) is a multi-state initiative bringing together Clean Cities and Communities Coalitions, research institutions, and community partners to expand access to clean fuel and charging infrastructure along the Mississippi River. Spanning ten states, this effort focuses on creating a coordinated plan to make cleaner, more sustainable transportation options available to communities from Minnesota to Louisiana.

Goals

The project will identify gaps in existing alternative fuel infrastructure, coordinate resources across the region, and foster partnerships that make clean transportation accessible for more people and businesses. By working together, we will strengthen local economies, improve transportation, and reduce emissions along one of America’s most important waterways.

Without a coordinated approach, alternative fuel infrastructure often develops in isolated pockets, leaving critical gaps that limit the use of clean vehicles for long-distance travel. By connecting these systems along the Mississippi River, we can make cleaner transportation a realistic choice for more drivers, fleets, and communities including those that have historically been left out of such investments.

Our Focuses

  • Coordinated Planning: Working with state and local agencies, Tribal governments, utilities, fuel providers, and community organizations to develop a shared vision for clean fuel access along the Great River Road and Mississippi riverway.

  • Community Engagement: Hosting events, trainings, and outreach activities to share information, build partnerships, and hear from residents about local transportation needs.

  • Technical Support: Helping partners identify and pursue funding opportunities for projects that will expand charging and clean fuel options.
