Electric Nation was recently featured by The New York Times as part of its 50 States, 50 Fixes series on local solutions to environmental challenges. Led by Native Sun Community Power Development and SAGE Development Authority, and supported in part by North Dakota Clean Cities, Electric Nation is a Native-led partnership designed to reduce transportation barriers for Tribal communities by building an intertribal EV charging network.

The New York Times highlights the progress made to date, including Standing Rock’s growing network of chargers and its broader clean energy efforts (pictured). Over the past several months, new chargers have been installed at key locations including Sitting Bull College, K–12 schools, community buildings, administrative offices, and businesses. With additional chargers scheduled to go online this month, Standing Rock will soon operate a total of 13 charging stations.

NDCC is grateful to be a partner in this collaborative effort and appreciate the national recognition of the work led by Tribal Nations to strengthen mobility options, support cost-effective transportation, and create local workforce opportunities.
