North Dakota Clean Cities was proud to serve as a regional partner in the national EMPOWER (Equitable Mobility Powering Opportunities for Workplace Electrification Readiness) project, which officially concluded in June 2025. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the EMPOWER initiative provided no-cost technical assistance, coaching, and public recognition for workplaces committed to installing or planning to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

In North Dakota, we’re proud to recognize the following EMPOWER pledge partners for their leadership in workplace charging:

Nationally, EMPOWER exceeded its goals in several key areas:

  • Engagements: 3,448 organizations engaged, surpassing the goal of 2,000 (172% of target)
  • Pledges: 670 pledges secured, exceeding the target of 650 (103% of goal)
  • Charging Ports Installed: 1,073 EV charging ports installed (31% of a goal of 3,500)

To view a live dashboard of EMPOWER pledges and charging port installations, visit the EMPOWER Tableau Summary.

Although the EMPOWER project has officially concluded, its resources and impact remain accessible. Free guides, case studies, and workplace charging success stories are still available to help organizations nationwide begin or continue their electrification efforts:

Thank you to all the organizations and partners who helped make EMPOWER a success. North Dakota Clean Cities remains committed to supporting clean transportation solutions and will continue helping local workplaces explore EV infrastructure as demand and opportunity grow.
