Metro Transit ZEB Summit

Loading Events

Background

Under state statute, the Metropolitan Council is responsible for developing a ZEB and electric transit vehicle transition plan:

The council must develop and maintain a zero-emission and electric transit vehicle transition plan. The council must complete the initial plan by February 15, 2022 and revise the plan at least once every five years. (Minn. Stat.473.3927)

In alignment with state statute, Metro Transit’s ZEB Transition Plan will identify short- (2022-2025), medium- (2026-2030), and long- (beyond 2030) term opportunities, risks, and implementation strategies to transition Metro Transit’s bus fleet to zero-emission technology. Metro Transit’s ZEB Transition Plan is guided by Technical Viability, Equity and Environmental Justice, and Financial Impact.

Goals

The Summit will focus on a short presentation followed by a facilitated discussion. The Summit’s goal is to gather feedback related to the Equity and Environmental Justice guiding principle and how the agency should prioritize implementation of zero emission buses.
